Nowadays, the question about the Internet is not "are we connected?", but "how connected?". Even before we've left for home, dinner is already warmed up, the air conditioner is at the perfect temperature, the lights are waiting to come on and whatnot. This isn't a sci-fi movie, this is the future today. Human involvement in everyday processes is becoming more and more invisible, or in other words, more and more adapted to technology and a comfortable lifestyle. We talk about the Internet of Things and the future applications in marketing of this technology whose future is undeniable.

 

The term Internet of Things (IoT) refers to physical devices, cars, buildings, home appliances, etc. that collect and transmit data over the Internet.

 

According to IDC, IoT spending reached $737 billion globally in 2016, with companies investing in hardware, software, services and connectivity that enables the technology. According to the same organization, the largest share of IoT investment is in manufacturing, transportation and utilities. The largest investments are being made and expected to be made by the Asia Pacific region, followed by the US, Western Europe and Japan.
