Marketing 3.0 in action: how to create an image through AI5 min read
Artificial intelligence in marketing and digital art is closer than ever.
Just look at this image!
Can you believe it was created in a matter of seconds using a few keywords? I know, it sounds surreal, but it's a fact!
(And, if you're interested, the keywords are "planet future desperate fear hunger poverty pollution hd cinematic")
It wasn't an artist who helped make it happen, but new technology using AI.
If you too want to create creative and super realistic images without any design experience, continue reading down.
Which are the best digital ART generators?
Among the most popular software for making digital images through artificial intelligence at the moment are "DALL-E 2", "MidJourney" and "Stable Diffusion". They have literally blown up the internet since their appearance, but they have also managed to divide our society into two groups - those who are "for" them and those "against" them. Either way, however, the theses seem valid.
How to register in MidJourney?
In my case I tried first with "MidJourney", the latest of the above. All you have to do to get a taste of this new world is open their website and sign up - www.midjourney.com.
You will then be redirected to Discord, where the magic happens. Accept the invitation and "voila!", you're in!
A few steps to remember:
1 - You have to click on the left in one of the rooms named "newbies" - here newbies can try out the platform.
2 - Everything happens just by typing in keywords you choose! In the chat box, you need to type the command "/imagine" followed by your keywords.
Important! - put a comma between keywords unless you want to use them in a phrase.
3 - You are entitled to 50 free images, after which you will need to upgrade to a paid subscription (if you wish). But the experience of even those 50 is worth it!
4 - When the images are ready, they will be displayed in a new message. You now have a few additional options.
U = Upscale: creates a larger version of the image.
V = Variation: creates a new image based on what you have selected.
Refresh = Get four new image variations of the same combination.
What is the difference between the software?
There are already many enthusiasts trying out all the available art AI software to discover the differences between them. Although they use images from the internet, the specificity is obvious, here is an example:
What are the discussions around AI in digital art?
Certainly all of these platforms are creating a lot of heated debate, especially around the future of digital art. In the US state of Colorado, there was even a scandal with global repercussions after an entrant in a local digital art competition managed to win with an image created by MidJourney. Although the winner, Jason Allen, justified himself by saying he had mentioned MidJourney in his entry, criticism from the community did not pass him by. Jason himself defended himself, saying that it still took him quite a while to find an image he liked to enter.
The existential debate between artists, photographers and designers, namely "will human labour be replaced?" remains on the agenda, but it is too early to answer.
What is your opinion - should there be platforms like MidJourney or not?
Recent years have seen the growth of platforms that have made a number of professions more accessible and understandable through the use of AI, which is true in full force in digital marketing, yet the worry of obscurity remains.
But for us there is no way out but to adapt to the new environment day by day. That's why in my forthcoming debut book "Digital Marketing Compass" I will include a whole chapter about the future of marketing in Web 3.0, and you can read 2 free chapters of it now 😉
