Claude Cowork:
Claude Cowork is Anthropic's desktop AI agent – it doesn't just answer questions, it works directly with the files on your computer, sorts documents, builds reports, and carries out tasks on your behalf. In this article, I explain what it can do, what it looks like in practice, and why companies that roll it out without training lose most of its potential.
What is Claude, and why is everyone talking about it right now?
ChatGPT is without a doubt the most popular AI tool, but over the past few months, more and more corporate teams have been turning to Claude – Anthropic’s AI assistant.
It’s not a fad. Claude was designed with different priorities:
| Критерий | Claude | ChatGPT |
|---|---|---|
Data current as of June 2026. For up-to-date limits, see the official documentation from Anthropic and OpenAI.
For companies whose teams handle a lot of documents, internal communication, and repetitive processes, that difference matters.
What is Claude Cowork, and how is it different from a regular chat?
Claude Cowork is a desktop app – available for macOS and Windows Pro – that turns AI from “something that answers questions” into “something that gets work done.”
In Cowork mode, Claude can:
- Sort and organize files – give it access to a messy folder full of contracts, surveys, and reports, and it organizes them into topic folders, asking clarifying questions before it acts
- Create documents – generate a structured Word file with a SWOT analysis, target personas, and KPI metrics on a given topic
- Run tasks in parallel – break a large task into micro-tasks and launch separate AI agents at the same time, for example on a price list, a brochure, and a sales proposal all at once
- Plug into your workflow – connects with Google Workspace, Gmail, Google Drive, Gamma, and automation platforms like n8n
Important: Cowork burns through tokens faster than a standard chat. For serious corporate use, the base $20/month plan isn’t enough – the Pro and Team plans (around $200/month) are a better fit.

I’ve recorded a video showing three real scenarios live: sorting documents, building a marketing strategy as a .docx file, and running tasks in parallel. It also covers important notes on cybersecurity.
What are Skills, and why do they matter for business?
Skills are predefined workflows inside Claude – logical sequences of steps that automate repetitive tasks. You turn them on through Settings → Capabilities.
The employee doesn’t program anything. They just activate a Skill, and Claude knows exactly how to carry out that specific task the way the company wants it done.
Two kinds:
- Ready-made Skills – like a Canva integration for creating PDF and PNG brochures directly
- Custom Skills – using the Skill Creator, you train Claude to carry out specific tasks to your own internal standard
What risks do you need to know about?
Since Cowork mode has access to the files on your computer, there are two risks every user should be aware of:
Data confidentiality
Don’t give the AI agent access to strictly confidential information without checking with IT or legal first. Anthropic itself warns about possible technical errors.
Prompt injection attacks
This is a type of attack where hidden instructions are embedded in a web page using invisible text. When the AI agent reads the page, it can carry out those instructions without the user knowing – including leaking data. When using Claude’s Chrome extension, always choose the option that has the agent ask for permission before every action.
Why doesn’t rollout without training work?
This is the key question for any manager considering bringing Claude into their team.
The numbers make the case. According to a 2026 Docebo study (“The AI Readiness Gap”), 85% of employees say they can’t apply the AI training they’ve received to their day-to-day work – even though AI literacy is priority number one for HR and L&D leaders. And according to March 2026 data from Access Group and YouGov, among employees using AI tools, nearly 70% are simply experimenting on the job, while fewer than 1 in 5 have gone through actual AI training or a course.
The reasons are predictable, and they repeat:
- They don’t know how to write effective prompts – the gap between a weak prompt and a strong one is the gap between a useless result and a transformative one
- They don’t see concrete applications for their own role – an HR director has different needs than a marketing manager; training has to be role-specific
- They have no framework for validating AI output – using it uncritically carries real business risk
Buying a license is the beginning, not the end.
